The name of the linden originates from the fact that there used to be a small in size village of Allaži. The circumference of the secular linden is 6.40 m. The midst of the trunk is empty, in the course of time a large and open hollow formed in it: 1.6 x 0.7 m, height of 3.5 m. The health condition of the linden is average — the trunk has suffered a lot, but the crown in general is quite healthy and gorgeous.
They say the altar of the Ēdole Church and the wooden sculptures around it were carved of the linden. If it is true then the above mentioned items had been carved only of some part of the trunk, because the linden is still growing and flourishing. It is possible that it is an ancient cult site, and the church items had been manufactured of some other linden growing nearby.
